>> Michel’s 44-year career has been integral to the history of NJM
>> He has decided to retire effective May 1, 2022
Michel Lapierre has announced his intention to retire from ProMach, with April 30, 2022 being his last day.
Michel’s leadership, vision, and rich experience over the last 44 years — first with CLI, then NJM/CLI, then NJM, and then ProMach Pharma — has left an enduring legacy in the organization.
In 1967, Michel’s father, Charles Lapierre, founded Charles Lapierre Inc. (CLI) in Montreal. Michel became president and CEO in 1991, with his brothers Daniel and Marc also in critical leadership roles.
In 1996 CLI merged with U.S.-based NJM, which was founded in 1915. The merger between CLI and NJM allowed the new entity, NJM/CLI Packaging Systems Int’l, the ability to offer a full line of pharmaceutical packaging machines. Right out of the gate, customers were able to acquire tablet counters, cottoners, cappers, labelers, line integration, and project management. Michel became the president of the newly-merged company later in 1996.
In 2010, under Michel’s leadership, NJM/CLI moved into a new state-of-the-art facility in Montreal. NJM/CLI officially changed its name to NJM Packaging in 2011.
In 2016, NJM was acquired by ProMach. At that time, Michel became president of ProMach’s Pharma Business Line.
In 2021, the role of President of Pharma Business Line at ProMach transitioned from Michel to Tom McDaniel, while Michel continued working within the Pharma Business Unit in a Business Development role.
Now, on May 1, Michel is calling it a career. Michel commented, “NJM (CLI) has been a part of my and my family’s life for as long as I can remember. I have bittersweet emotions as I announce that I am moving on to a new phase in my life after 44 years in this business. This was a big decision, and one not without a lot of thought and preparation, but I am happy about the legacy we have built at NJM, the Pharma Business Line, and ProMach.”
Steve Leduc, General Manager at NJM, said, “On behalf of all the employees of NJM, I want to express all our gratitude for the amazing and successful foundation Michel and his brothers, Daniel and Marc, built. They have inspired generations of employees to build the best machines, to offer world class service, and build a solid trust with highly satisfied customers.”
Join us in wishing Michel well in his next phase of life! We will miss him!
